Sheena McGrandles, the first international artist having a work stay at Siobhan Davies Dance, shares excerpts from her work-in-progress FLUSH. Experimenting with lighting, make-up, and slow, detailed movement, she will draw out a ‘queer aesthetic’ from historical images of the female body.

Sheena McGrandles will spend time considering images of groups of women from the history of art and popular culture. She will attempt to animate these images with her technologized movement vocabulary to explore how their gestures might become charged with intimacy and eroticism.

Also part of the work stay is the workshop Doing Day: Picture This: with Sheena McGrandles.

The Goethe-Institut London is delighted to support Sheena McGrandles' work stay at Siobhan Davies Dance.
