A Literary Festival in Accra

The Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe-Institut in Accra are happy to announce a three-day Literary Festival happening from the 20th - 22nd of October 2017.

Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra will be held at the premise of the Goethe-Institut Ghana with the aim of Igniting passion in Literary Arts.

The three-day event will host guest writers and Literary activists from Togo, Nigeria, South Africa, Canada and Ghana who will give readings, lead workshops and participate in panel discussions and book signings.
Prominent among the events during the festival is a conversation and poetry reading with Ama Ata Aidoo and Kobina Eyi Acquah, the launch of the Abena Korantemaa Prize for Oral History and the launching of the Ghanaian edition of Chuma Nwokolo's new book, The Extinction of Menai.

The festival will also feature panel discussions, storytelling sessions and performances and three workshops including one on Literary Criticism. There will also be the launch of a book drive in support of the Teachers Network (TEN), panel discussions on various topics including one on translation which will also touch on local languages and braille. In addition there will be a special reading with authors of children’s books.

Throughout the festival, there will be book-stands set up by publishers and booksellers, as well as an interactive session with publishers for prospective writers and book sellers. There will be a special feature for comics and a reading with contemporary Ghanaian writers as well as short theatrical performances.

The festival will host, amongst many others, writers like Nana Awere Damoah, Kofi Akpabli, Raymond Tuvi, Mawuli Adjei, Alem Kangini, Niq Mholongo, Adwewale Maja-Pearce and Eghosa Imasuen.
