Panel 4: "Remove Now, by Order! Public Space / Art in Public Space"

In the late 1990s, long before the “occupy movement” became noticeable, groups of Accra youth began appropriating spaces within the city to their artistic purposes. In a way, these activities, mostly led by young creatives, broke the bounds and brought city youth into direct contact with city dwellers in new and innovative ways. Panelists will discuss how the youth in Accra and Tema among others have been appropriating public space to their artistic practice alongside its impact on communities and the cities as a whole.
