Hybrid Hackathon
Kotaton

Kotaton (“Kota” is Indonesian for the city) is a platform for finding solutions to concrete problems of urban life. This is a hybrid hackathon, a format where practitioners from arts, creative industries, and community initiative organizations as well as students come together to solve challenges in a limited area within a limited time frame. The aim is to initiate arts activism projects that promote cultural and sustainable development in the city of Bandung.

In a 72-hour process, interdisciplinary groups work on questions collected from Ngopi on the main topics: collective identity and diversity, environment and sustainability, and social justice and empowerment in urban spaces, and create concrete project proposals. Mentors from France, Indonesia, and Germany joined this event virtually. They will give presentations and workshops. Participants will have two days to brainstorm and create concepts. Three winners will be selected by the jury who each represent the main topic of the Rubicon and four selected winners. The winner of the project will receive funds to kick-start the project and at the end of the year will present the progress of the project to the Bandung public and other cultural arts practitioners through an exhibition at the Lawangwangi Creative Space.
