Rike is a successful 40-year-old doctor who’s fulfilling her dream of sailing by herself to Ascension Island in the Atlantic Ocean. Her dream holiday gets interrupted as she encounters a group of refugees shipwrecked in the middle of the high sea, forcing herself to recognize the cruelties of real life.
Wolfgang Fischer
The Austrian director Wolfgang Fischer was born 1970 in Vienna. From 1990 until 1995 he studied psychology and painting at the University of Vienna, as well as Film and Video at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf from 1994 to 1996 under Nan Hoover. In the year 2003 he was jury member at the International Film Festival in Grimstad, Norway. Since 1999 he is a director for the German federal broadcaster WDR.
