On the Way to the Final
For the first time in the world, e-sports are going to be an official sport discipline in the Southeast Asian Games 2019 to take place in the Philippines where athletes will compete to win gold medals. Goethe-Institut will also hold its international online video game tournament. In this tournament, the language course participants of Goethe-Institut Bandung, Bangkok, Chennai, Dhaka, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune are playing FIFA against each other using PlayStation to determine the champion.
What’s particularly special about this is that nobody has to leave their own country. The games take place in the Goethe-Institut on site. The competitors will be connected via the internet and then have the chance to lead their respective teams to victory despite thousands of kilometers between them. The language is, of course, German.
The overall winner can look forward to an extensive German language course in his or her respective Goethe-Institut. Also, the first, second, and third places during the playoffs will each be awarded an original German national football team T-shirt.
