Beethoven from Home, is a new collaboration series from the Jakarta City Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate Beethoven’s birth year in a stylishly intimate setting.

The Jakarta City Philharmonic was founded in 2016 and had its debut performance in November 2016. It was fully funded by the federal government until 2018, at which point the local government took over the funding. The Philharmonic performs eight to ten concerts a year. Its first international debut was in Tokyo as part of the Asian Orchestra Week in October 2019. Some orchestral musicians will be performing virtually in chamber music format and will present music from or inspired by Beethoven to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birth year.

This second edition celebrates home and time. We want to take our audience back in time and meet two of Beethoven’s contemporaries, Bernhard Hendrik Crusell (duo clarinet) and Ferdinand Ries (Sextet Op. 142).
