Short film programme

We are happy to invite you to the next installment of the ArtHouse Cinema program on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. This time we will screen a short film programme called Short Export – Made in Germany 2016.

New name, new design, same reliable quality: In its 11th year the successful German French collaborative project once called “Soireee Allemande” is presenting another programme of outstanding current German short films. For this year’s edition ten short films have been selected, ranging from bizarre and exciting to warm-hearted and hilarious stories. The programme will be available for Goethe-Institutes, Robert Bosch Cultural Managers and their partners all over the world. We are looking forward to numerous screenings and wish the audience many inspiring moments.

Films in this program:
  • IN THE DISTANCE (Florian Grolig)
  • IMMER MÜDER / ALWAYS TIRED (Jochen Kuhn)
  • IHR SOHN / HER SON (Katharina Woll)
  • WER TRÄGT DIE KOSTEN? / WHO WILL PAY THE BILL? (Daniel Nocke)

The Bathtub: Three brothers, Georg, Alexander and Niklas, are preparing an original present for their mother. But the oldest brother doesn’t like the idea of re-enacting an old bathtub picture from their childhood at all. Little by little, they bare all and all that remains is three brothers who have grown apart.
  • Dissonance © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
Dissonance: A lonely pianist resides with his gnome-like servant in a sphere-shaped city, far above the rest of the universe. One day, harsh reality descends upon his fantasy world and the confused old street musician embarks on a crazy odyssey between psychosis and real life.
  • Ihr Sohn © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
Her Son: Gregor is a musician and a dreamer. He likes his life - as long as he doesn’t have to explain himself to his mother Irène, a successful gallerist. When Irène’s health radically deteriorates, Gregor is forced to leave his mother's shadow and seize life with both hands.
  • Immer müder © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
Always TIred: A short reflection on the topic of being tired.
  • In the Distance © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
In the Distance: It's calm and peaceful above the clouds. But chaos lurks in the distance and every night it draws closer.
  • Myself Universe © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
Myself Universe: MYSELF UNIVERSE is an attempt to recall the secret of the universe.
  • Woman Without Mandolin © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
Woman Without Mandolin: The face of a woman seems to be fluctuating in space. She is completely focused and we can almost hear her breathing. Suddenly, she seems to wake up. She looks deep into our eyes as she transforms herself, unravelling and reconstructing herself piece by piece.
  • Wer trägt die Kosten? © AG Kurzfilm © AG Kurzfilm
Who Will Pay the Bill?: Three experts give us their insight on a highly explosive subject. However, it is unlikely that expert number four will be invited back to the discussion.

Arthouse Cinema

Arthouse Cinema is the regular film program of the Goethe-Institut. Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month we screen independent movies, avant-garde movies, retrospectives, experimental films or documentary films from Europe and Indonesia – anything but the mainstream.
