Poetry Songs and their stories

Aning Katamsi is an Indonesian soprano singer pursuing a career in classical music (seriosa). After her first vocal lessons from her own mother, Pranawengrum Katamsi, she then went on to the Music Foundation Education School (YPM) and attended several vocal masterclasses. She is currently a vocal and piano instructor at YPM Music School and The Resonanz Music Studio.

In addition to her solo career, Aning Katamsi is the Main Conductor of the University of Indonesia Paragita Student Choir. Together with Paragita she has achieved great success at both national and international levels.

Her concern for literacy resulted in the publishing of her Indonesian Classical book, which is a collection of Indonesian art songs by Binsar Sitompul, FX Sutopo, and Mochtar Embut in 2008. Then in collaboration with the Jakarta Arts Council, she became one of the editors of the Indonesian Art Song pronunciation book (2011) and Anthology of Indonesian Classical Music (2013).
