Workshop in music appreciation: A Human Requiem

Sarah Charista is an Indonesian conductor and educator who is currently working in the United Kingdom. She is an Alexander Gibson Conducting Fellow in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus and works with many great conductors around the world. She shared the podium conducting the RSNO Chorus singing Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem / Human Requiem and received a fantastic review from The Herald Scotland newspaper: “great clarity and beautifully fluid technique”.
Studying under Simon Halsey, Charista is a graduate of the Master Director of Choirs at the University of Birmingham, where she was selected to be an assistant conductor at the Summer Opera Festival there.

Apart from her directorial career, she has also played piano, sung and worked as a freelance organist in Scotland. She has attended several masterclasses, including the Choir Conductor Masterclass with Nicolas Fink organized by Goethe-Institut Indonesien in 2016.
