Film tour for schools
Windstorm
Hanna Binke as Mika in "Windstorm"
Director: Katja von Garnier, 105 min, Germany 2013
In spring 2016, the Irish Film Institute and the Goethe-Institut Ireland present the award-winning film “Windstorm” for schools in cinemas all over Ireland.
“Windstorm” tells the story of the rebellious girl Mika who has to repeat a year at school and burnt down her teacher’s car by accident. Therefore, her parents do not send her to holiday camp as planned but to her stern grandmother’s stud, where she is supposed to study for school all summer long. Though Mika is not very familiar with horses, she is fascinated by the wild and shrinking stallion Windstorm. Neither Michelle, the farm’s best show jumper, nor Mika’s grandmother can tame the horse. Magically attracted by the edgy stallion, Mika starts an exceptional friendship with Windstorm against all warnings and discovers her true passion and an extraordinary gift: she speaks the language of horses! Will she manage — against all odds — to tame Windstorm?
