Angus Mitchell: One Bold Deed of Open Treason

New Date!

Roger Casement

The next installment of Germany@Home will be a special Germantraces@Home edition as part of six new traces (among others Joseph Beuys & Roger Casement) for the German traces in Irelandproject. The Goethe-Institut Irland has invited scholar and leading Casement expert Angus Mitchell who will read from his book “One Bold Deed of Open Treason” and discuss Casement’s impact on Irish history.

Roger Casement is an intriguing figure in Irish history who played a crucial role in the 1916 Rising. His Berlin Diary is an astonishingly candid insight into his mind and motives during his last acts before the Easter Rising and his execution. The Diary contains all the elements of a spy novel: betrayal, subterfuge and treason. So you can look forward to a very interesting evening!
