Anna Seidl will read at the International Literature Festival Dublin on Saturday 21st May 2016 at 3:30 pm from her debut novel Es wird keine Helden geben (2014) (No Heroes), translated by Siobhán Parkinson, one of Ireland’s best-known writers for children and young people. The novel is a gripping exploration of the aftermath of a high school shooting. The 15-years-old Miriam, whose boyfriend was killed in the shooting while she survived, relentlessly grapples with her feelings of guilt and grief.

The novel was awarded the newcomer price of the Deutsche Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur (German academy for children and young adult fiction) because it displays a fascinating psychogram of all the people affected. Anna Seidl was born in Freising/ Bavaria in 1995 and was just 16 years old when she wrote the novel.

Along with Anna Seidl also the young adult writers Juno Dawson and Deirdre Sullivan will read from their texts at this event, chaired by Claire Hennessy, so that it brings together three young authors who are not afraid to explore dark and dangerous material.
