Cyminology

A firm fixture on the German jazz scene, Berlin-based Cyminology was founded by vocalist Cymin Samawatie and pianist Benedikt Jahnel in 2002. Fusing both modern and ancient Persian poetry with European jazz and world music, the band seeks to blend eastern and western music styles harmoniously. Now joined by drummer Tobias Backhaus and bassist Ralf Schwarz, the band incorporates elements of chamber jazz, Bossa Nova, open improvisation, modern composition, impressionism and minimalism in their music.
Cyminology will be playing at the Triskel Christchurch in Cork, a beautifully restored neo-classical church.
This event is one of three concerts at Triskel celebrating the legendary German record label ECM.
