Out of Rosenheim (c) Pelemele Film

As part of the Silver Screen film season celebrating the Bealtaine Festival in dlr Libraries.

This 1987 comedy-drama is based on the Bavarian Jasmin, who, whilst on holidays in the US, gets into an argument with her husband. Without further ado, the dirndl-wearing woman decides to leave him and marches through the desert. In a remote hotel she befriends the owner Brenda who also struggles with her husband. Jasmin begins working in the café, gradually transforming it and all the colorful characters who frequent it. Not only does she attract the painter Rudy, but also the attention of the local sheriff who finds out that her tourist visa has long expired…

‘Out of Rosenheim’ will also be screened at this year's Cannes Film Festival as part of the Cannes Classics programme.
