Sound & Colour
Workshop
-
Dance Limerick, Limerick
- Language English
The production "Sound & Colour" centres around the rare neurological
phenomenon called ’synaesthesia’, where the trigger of one sense simultaneously and
involuntarily triggers a second sense and as a result the senses blend. "Sound & Colour" aims to promote diversity in society by emphasising the uniqueness of individual human perception and our individual way of processing sensory information. The project features two dancers, a composer and a sound artist collaboratively creating a performance where sound, light, colour and movement blend and interweave.
"Sound & Colour" is invited to the Percolate Residency at Dance Limerick in summer 2018 to
research & development the new performance. At the end of the residency, "Sound & Colour" will share the process in an informal work in progress showing. The audience will have the opportunity to take part in several workshops where they can actively explore themes of synaesthesia, sound, embodiment and dance improvisation. There will also be two company classes for professional and student dance artists at Dance Limerick while in residency. These classes will be an open sharing of our research. The showing will potentially feature workshop and company class participants.
