Goethe-Institut Irland is proud to present, with the Romanian Embassy, Johnny Ward reading at our auditorium in 37 Merrion Square as part of Words on the Street 2019. Johnny Ward will read an extract from the English translations of Daniel Kehlmann's You Should Have Left and Filip Florian's All the Owls.

We are also delighted to be hosting Marian Richardson and the Polish Embassy in our library, who will be reading an Irish and English language translation of a Polish novel, Flights, by Olga Tokarczuk.

Crossing political and literary borders – Words on the Street will take you on a journey across the cultural landscape in an evening of moving and animated readings of translated work by contemporary European authors.

Treat your eyes and ears to a new experience – hear voices from ten European countries, across a range of beautiful cultural venues on a trail around all sides of the handsome Merrion Square, one of Dublin’s most impressive Georgian areas.

The venues this year are:
Literature Ireland
American College Dublin
Goethe-Institut Irland: Library
Goethe-Institut Irland: Auditorium
Irish Architectural Archive
Royal Society of Antiquaries

The first reading at each venue will start at 6:30pm and the last one at 9:00pm.
Each reading takes approximately 15 minutes and is repeated on the hour and half hour.

This event is free and unticketed, with entry on a first come first served basis.
