Näher is a short film based on the live performance Näher… closer, nearer, sooner created 2018 by Liz Roche Company on the occasion of the re-opening of the Goethe-Institut in Dublin.

Dancers bring audiences on a captivating and emotional journey through the site of the newly refurbished Goethe-Institut Irland, sharing visceral and moving memories, texts and dances.The piece explores the crossover and connections between the texts and concepts of W.B. Yeats and the life and works of Goethe.

Alan Gilsenan's film condenses the story of four loss souls, who move and gather in shared moments of remembrance in beautifully crafted images.

The film has been supported by the Goethe-Institut Irland.
