Ministerium der Träume

For our 16th international online book club meeting on 15th March, we have invited author Hengameh Yaghoobifarah to read their book Ministerium der Träume (Ministry of Dreams) with us.

ABOUT THE BOOK
When the police arrive at her door, Nas' world comes crashing down. Her sister Nushin is dead. Car accident, say the officers. Suicide, Nas is convinced. Together they have survived everything: the migration to Germany, the loss of her father, the emotional absence of her mother, Nushin's unplanned motherhood. Although a child does not fit into her life, Nas takes in her niece. Even when she discovers that Nushin had secrets, Nas swallows the betrayal and gives everything to reconstruct her sister's story, realising that Nushin would never have abandoned her. Ministry of Dreams is a novel about families who've chosen to be together and families who've been forced together. It's a debut novel about unconditional solidarity among siblings, and the dark side of contemporary Germany.
