MEET THE AUTHOR #17: ANNE WEBER
International Online Book Club: Meet the Author
Annette, ein Heldinnenepos (Annette, a heroine epic)
For the 17th meeting of our International Book Club on 5 April 2022, we have invited Anne Weber to read her book Annette, ein Heldinnenepos with us.
ABOUT THE BOOK
What a life! Born in Brittany in 1923, childhood in modest circumstances, was a member of the Communist Résistance when she was young, rescued two Jewish youths — for which she was later awarded the honorary title Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem — after the war she became a neurophysiologist in Marseille, 1959 was sentenced to ten years in prison for her involvement in the Algerian independence movement... and still a living example of the importance of disobedience in schools today.
Anne Weber tells the improbable life of Anne Beaumanoir in a brilliant biographical heroine epic. The scenes, which are described with great eloquence, raise many questions: What drives someone to join the resistance? What must they sacrifice for it? How far can they go? What can they achieve? Annette, ein Heldinnenepos tells of a true heroine.
