Shortly after the German reunification, police inspector Patrick Stein gets transferred to a small town in the East, where young girls keep disappearing. Everyone seems to believe they simply went to Berlin or the West like so many others at the time – for work and a better life. When he starts investigating the disappearances with his new colleague Markus Bach, they discover disturbing photographs of the missing girls. What is this town hiding? And how much of what Bach has told Stein about his past in the GDR is the truth?

A suspenseful thriller that captures a time when the future of the newly reunified Germany seemed murky and uncertain.
