by Dead Centre with Mark O'Halloran

As part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2019, “Beckett’s Room”, the latest production by theatre company Dead Centre, will celebrate its World Premiere

“Beckett’s Room” is set in Beckett’s Parisian apartment where he used to live with his partner Suzanne during the Second World War while writing and supporting the French Resistance. This story of both art and political resistance is told through the biography of a room. Without any performers, “Beckett’s Room” is a spectacle of absence and an invitation to bear witness to a world as it disappears. Through headphones the audience will listen to a world changing around us, and changed by us.

Voices by German actors Christoph Gawenda and Moritz Gotwald, ensemble members of Schaubühne Berlin.

Dead Centre is a multi-award winning theatre company founded by Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd in 2012. Their first project, “Souvenir”, was created for the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2012 and later toured to London, New York, Brisbane and Seoul. Their most recent production, “Shakespeare’s Last Play”, premiered at Schaubühne Berlin in 2018.
