Time to Listen

The current situation has forced many people around the world to stay at home and follow the news. In this isolation they hear the news of a global crisis and threat. The project “Time to listen” presents a collection of stories - told by storytellers from all genres of art, from all over the world.

Into Virtual Reality

The VR project “VRwandlung” is a combination of classic literature and modern technology. As a project initiated by the Goethe-Institut Prague, “VRwandlung” turns Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis”, one of the most influential novella of the 20th century, into a virtual reality experience.

Seagull’s German List which is supported by the Goethe-Institut since 2009 now comprises more than 90 translations of formidable works of contemporary German literature by distinguished authors and laureates such as Max Frisch, Theodor W. Adorno, Thomas Bernhard, Hans Magnus Enzensberger and Ulrich Peltzer.

The Social Translating Project is testing a new social practice for literary translation. Ten translators from Asia are translating the German novel „Die Welt im Rücken“ by Thomas Melle into their respective native languages.

Poets Translating Poets

Poets Translating Poets is a regional project of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan where poets from South Asia and Germany translated each others’ poetry. The website documents the entire collection of poems, their translations, reportages and essays.

Translation Programme

The Goethe-Institut’s grant programme “Translations of German Books into Other Languages” supports non-German publishers in publishing German-language literature, with the aim of making literary works accessible to non-German speaking readers.
