The Saviour of Potsdam is the first rehearsed reading of this year’s German Spotlight series, now in its 6th edition. The English translation of the play, written by Theresia Walser, is directed by Sujay Saple.

About the play:
The Saviour of Potsdam is a dark comedy that exposes a culture of confirmation bias, and the ethics of ordinary people against a backdrop of anti-immigrant racism.

Paula Wündrich is the talk of the town. Lately, she's been struggling to hold on to her friends. The love department appears to be equally difficult to navigate. Things aren't looking too good for Paula that is until she's hailed ‘The Saviour of Potsdam’.

Why this play:
The play was selected because its dark and edgy humour; and because the script, written over 15 years ago, is still quite on-trend, since it speaks to our current climate of confirmation bias and instant social media celebritydom.
