Internationally renowned German graphic designer and comic artist Reinhard Kleist will be in Chennai as the final stop of his tour in India.

Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Chennai In association with the Hindu Lit for Life 2018 present Reinhard Kleist. He will talk about his work, narrate about his inspirations and thereafter will draw live accompanied by music sung by the NalandaWay Children’s Choir and Vedanth Bharadwaj. This event will also have an audience interaction after the presentation.
 
WORKSHOPS

During the course of his stay in Chennai, Reinhard Kleist will also be conducting workshops for the students of Fine Arts of Stella Maris College and the students of Visual Communication of Loyola College on 12 and 13 December, respectively.

Reinhard Kleist and a group of budding artists will sketch while students of NalandaWay’s Art Labs will showcase their talents in folk arts accompanied by live music. This event at Elliots beach (near Spaces, 1 Elliots Beach) provides a unique opportunity for the children to see an artist in action.
 
TRAVEL SKETCHES

Reinhard Kleist will be travelling around Chennai working on his travel sketches which will immortalise the sights, sounds, and smells  he encounters in the city.

REINHARD KLEIST
Reinhard Kleist was born in 1970 in Germany and studied at Münster’s Fachhochschule für Grafik und Design, producing as his graduation work a biography of the American horror and science fiction writer H.P. Lovercraft.

Reinhard Kleist brings lives and literature to readers through the pages of heart-breaking, educational and insightful comic masterpieces. He is an award-winning graphic novelist - including the prestigious Max and Moritz Prize, who is best known for the graphic biographies he has drafted and immortalized such as:

• Johnny Cash: I See A Darkness of musician Johnny Cash
• The Boxer about the Jewish boxer Hertzko Haft
• Castro - a detailed look at Fidel Castro
• An Olympic Dream on Somali runner Samia Yusuf Omar

His latest graphic novel Nick Cave - Mercy on me, a book about the life and work of musician Nick Cave draws elements from Nick Cave’s life as well as his music and writing, revealing a panorama of passion, addiction and death.
