Turning young learners into Sustainability Experts

As part of the project "What moves us ecologically! - Turning Young Learners into Sustainability Experts" project, the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata is conducting a series of workshops for German language learners from the partner schools.

Each of these workshops, which are specifically designed for young learners aged 12 to 16, will cover the different aspects of three main themes: Sustainability, Ecology and Protection / Conservation of our Natural Environment.

In the workshop, students will be made aware of sustainability and environmental protection issues that they encounter in their everyday lives and that are relevant to them.  They will become familiar with the concept of sustainability as well as with the different topics this concept covers (e.g., renewable energies, plastic avoidance, recycling, fair trade, etc.) They will learn to measure their own ecological footprint and to reflect and discuss their contribution to environmental protection and sustainability with other team members. Together with the workshop leader Mr. Miguel Rezzani, they will work on collecting concrete ideas and suggestions for a more sustainable lifestyle in order to put what they have learned into practice. Finally, they will come up with projects and initiatives to explain to their peers what they have learned in the workshops and become Sustainability Ambassadors.

Also, during the workshops, the students will have the opportunity to improve all four components of their German language skills, i.e., reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension.
The workshops are as follows:

28.05.2021 – What is „Sustainability “?

04.06.2021 – " Power of Wind – the Windmill ".– The Windmill – renewable energies
