Strollology with Suresh Jayaram

Step into the green heart of Bangalore with a guided botanical walk through Cubbon Park. Beneath its towering rain trees and sprawling bamboo groves, the park shelters a living archive of the city’s horticultural history. From colonial plantings to indigenous species, each tree here tells a story of migration, adaptation, and resilience.

Led by Curator and Writer Suresh Jayaram, who will be sharing glimpses of his Upcoming book on Cubbon Park, this walk invites you to slow down, observe, and rediscover the extraordinary diversity hidden in plain sight. Learn to identify native and exotic trees, trace the park’s layered past.

Network Walk

Network Walk is a gentle exploration of Bengaluru’s hidden infrastructures, where telegraph buildings, internet cables, trees, fungi, and lichens appear as interconnected webs. Beginning at the Central Telegraph Office and moving into Cubbon Park, the walk invites participants to trace signals, measure hotspots, and notice the quiet work of mycelium. Guided by fungi culturist Biplab Mahato and curated by media artist from Germany Iz Paehr, the walk offers glimpses into histories and encounters with ecologies. Join in to touch networks that carry stories and to sing with lichens.

19.10.2025 - 3 pm to 5 pm

Biplab Mahato is an interdisciplinary explorer of ecology who works with fungi — from cultivation to creating food, art, and immersive experiences — while documenting their ecological stories. As the founder of Shroomin’, he builds communities around learning from fungal networks and their connections to human systems. Based in Bengaluru, Biplab blends ecology, art, and digital culture to reveal hidden connections between fungi, trees, and communication infrastructures, encouraging people to sense the invisible threads that weave together urban and natural systems.

Iz Paehr works as an artist-designer touching access, criptastic hacking and trans*feminist world building. Their experiences as a disabled person inform their work and drive their desire for furthering Disability Justice through critical technological practice. Currently, they are designing haptic virtual interfaces. Paehr lives and works in Berlin. Iz can be found online via izpaehr.xyz

Iz Paehr was a bangaloREsident @ The Archives at NCBS in 2024.
