An interesting concert of inter-cultural exchange through music featuring Solo Flute – Classical and World music and Experimental Trio – Jazz improvisation.

Mark Alban Lotz, the lord of the Flutes was raised in Thailand, Uganda and Germany, but his appetite for musical adventures takes him all over the globe acclaimed as much for his restless creativity as for his virtuosity as a player. Having worked with a huge cast of artists over the last two decades, Mark combines the virility of jazz with the refinement of classical music whereby building a bridge between jazz and contemporary music, often crossing borders with other music cultures of the world. He plays Piccolo, C Flute, Alto Flute, Bass Flute, PVC Contra Bass Flute, Indian Bamboo Flutes, Flötophon, Prepared Flute and Electronics. He has been featured in many international publications, has released 16 CD's on German, Dutch, Turkish, French and US labels.

Anurag Naidu is primarily a jazz pianist based out of Mumbai with a strong background in Western classical music. He studied jazz performance under celebrated French Pianist Le Baraillec at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Europe. Anurag performs with diverse band formations drawing influences from several genres of music to create a modern and new sound to jazz performances whilst still holding the jazz tradition in full integrity. He has been touring and playing in Paris and India for the past 3 years. Anurag recently played with AR Rahman for MTV unplugged season 6 and also performed with Zakhir Hussain.

Deepak Srinivas, a Chennai Guitarist plays many different genres and tries to embellish Carnatic Music into his compositions. Having learnt the Piano, Vocal and Violin from the age of 5, Deepak tries to put in all the concepts of Carnatic Music into the Guitar, thus blending it with other styles. His tutelage under Lalgudi Srimathi Brahmanandam (Carnatic Violin) and Augustine Paul (Piano) has helped him a lot to understand the intricate concepts of composing and improvisation. Having played in many major venues across India, he has unanimously got a great response for his unique style of playing the instrument. As a Session Guitarist with many leading composers in India he is adept in improvising and fitting in to the given song and its emotion.

And it is for the first time that the three musicians are going to fuse together in music with their creative improvisation at the Goethe-Institut Chennai as a special concert exclusively under the MUSIX series which encourages such inter-cultural musical ventures.
