Windy Beats is a perfectly harmonized Indo-European music fusion bringing together the East and the West with their aesthetic beats and tunes.
As a part of Goethe-Institut’s MUSIX series, this cultural event is a wholesome percussive and melodic musical feature bringing out the aesthetic nuances of percussion instruments through unique rhythmic compositions, performed on Ghatams and Jazz Drums with special sounds of the Keyboard, melodic interludes by Indian Flute and everything strung together by Bass Guitar.
On Ghatam, vocal and Carnatic percussions is Suresh Vaidyanathan, internationally acclaimed and respected for his in-depth knowledge of Indian rhythm, melody and technical supremacy in percussion. He is credited with revolutionizing the art of playing ghatam in many genres and is now a prolific jazz composer with Indian flavor. He has formed a global jazz band ‘Nandi’ featuring distinguished musicians from East and West.
On Western Drums is Ranjit Barot, Mumbai drumming genius, music composer, director and singer. He has been a featured drummer and arranger for legendary film-music composers R.D. Burman, Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Kalyanji–Anandji through the eras and has been an integral part of some of A.R. Rahman’s work. His collaborations with international musicians include unique performances with John McLaughlin, Jonas Helborg, Ayden Esen, and Tim Garland.
On Bass Guitar is Pascal Lovergne who started playing the Bass at sixteen. Having studied Jazz at CNR de Lille and obtaining the ‘Medialle D’or’, he has been playing on stage collaborating with renowned musicians world-wide and recording lot of styles ranging from Jazz to Pop and is especially interested in fusion with Indian music.
On Flute is Amith Nadig, a versatile young wizard hailing from a family of musicians. He has been performing on stage for more than two decades in all prestigious festivals in India and abroad. Effortlessly adapting to different genres of music, Amith was the only Indian to have been invited to the Düsseldorf Church Organ Festival and Jazz-Art Festival in 2016 and in 2017 he performed in Jazz Frühling, Europe’s biggest Jazz festival.
On Keyboard is Biju Paulose, regarded as one of the most diverse musicians and composers with an outstanding talent in recreating sounds of a wide range of Indian classical instruments. As an extremely successful original music director, he has recorded music scores for over 1000 films. His efforts have earned him several distinguished awards.
