Discover the life of Gregor Samsa !
Wake up - as Gregor Samsa did, as a huge insect in his room!
Feel the transformation into a bug in your own body! Experience the transfer of Act I of Franz Kafka’s famous work The Metamorphosis from the pages of a book to virtual reality! VRWandlung - an adaptation of the book’s original title Die Verwandlung , offers the opportunity to be Gregor Samsa - the main protagonist in The Metamorphosis, a travelling salesman who wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect.
The VR experience begins by donning shoes, gloves – both sensors for the VR – and a VR headset. Then - in your new Avtaar as an insect, you begin the tour of Samsa’s room in the old town of Prague. The metamorphosis progresses with the help of acoustics, and visual effects.
The impressive VR rendering with its realistic simulations has been touring across the world since its premiere at the Goethe-Institut Prague last year. Now the virtual reality version of the world classic by Franz Kafka will be coming to Chennai.
The Virtual Reality Installation was developed by the Goethe-Institut Prague in cooperation with Mika Johnson and Shahid Gulamali and is presented in Chennai by Goethe-Institut Chennai / Max Mueller Bhavan. In January, Jan Tompkins, member of the VRwandlung team, will be in Chennai to introduce his work through presentations and interactions with students of educational institutions.

AN EVENING WITH FRANZ KAFKA
Franz Kafka was a writer of visionary fiction and to understand Franz Kafka’s world and his art, we need to thoroughly explore his literary universe where the message is delivered and encoded in different ways. The essential mark of Kafka's genius is the obscure lucidity of his writing that even today -nearly a century after his death, is open to endless interpretation
AN EVENING WITH FRANZ KAFKA takes a look at the man behind the legend through readings , a discussion with participants Milind Brahme , Seralathan Pannirselvam - whose Tamil translation of ‘ Letter to the Father’ is to be published shortly and students of IIT Madras and finishes with a stage reading of “The Warden of the Tomb” a play written by Franz Kafka.
