Film Festival|Theme: United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration

In 2023, the Science Film Festival is the official supporting partner of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The theme is a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world. The UN Decade runs from 2021 through 2030, which is also the deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals and the timeline scientists have identified as the last chance to prevent catastrophic climate change. Ecosystem restoration means assisting in the recovery of ecosystems that have been degraded or destroyed, as well as conserving the ecosystems that are still intact.
 
The festival takes place internationally from October 1 to December 20.

SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL 2023 brings science to your screen in ways that are entertaining, creative, exciting, and enriching! A celebration of science communication, the festival makes science accessible to a broad audience and demonstrates that science can be fun! In cooperation with local partners, it promotes science literacy and facilitates awareness of contemporary scientific, technological and environmental issues through international films and accompanying educational activities.
 
The Festival has grown significantly since its first edition in 2005, becoming the largest event of its kind worldwide.

The films on view in South Asia are categorised for the following age groups:
  • 2 Films for Early Learners (5-8 yrs)
  • 2 Films for Primary Section (9-11 yrs)
  • 3 Films for Secondary Section (12-16 yrs)
  • 22 Films for University and General Public (17+ yrs)
