Celebrating Women

In celebration of International Women's Day, the Goethe-Institut Chennai is organizing a diverse array of events. These include an exhibition, martial arts workshop, PoP, R&B concert, Rap performances & City Walks. These multifaceted activities aim to honor and celebrate the contributions of women while providing a platform for artistic expression and empowerment.

PARAI by adavi arts collective 

Get ready for a captivating addition to our Women Outdoor Exhibition! Harishini, an accomplished street art percussionist from Karnataka, will join forces with Adavi Arts Collective, a team of four talented women. Their 15-minute performance promises to infuse the exhibition with rhythmic energy and celebrate the strength of women. Don't miss this unique art intervention that adds vibrancy and diversity to the event.

Rhythmic beats, razor-sharp lyrics – witness the power of the first Tamil all-women rap crew on a mission. As part of Celebrating Women, Sollisai Sistahs will take the stage to shed light on important feminist and political topics through their music.

9 & 10 march 2024 | 10.00 AM - 1.00 pm | ADIMURAI MARTIAL ARTS WORKSHOP by KAVITHA RAJENDIRAN  

Call for participants to a special 3-hour workshop on Adimurai, a traditional martial art form.  This empowering workshop is exclusively designed for girls aged 12 and above and will be held on two separate days. Each day will feature a new batch of participants, ensuring a fresh experience for all.
