CYANOTYPE PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP © Goethe-Institut Chennai

CPB Learning Lab is excited to offer an exclusive in-person Cyanotype workshop for the walk-in guests of the Travelling Plants exhibition at Alliance Française of Madras, hosted by the Goethe Institute. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the art of Cyanotype by creating beautiful bookmarks using the blueprint method of printing.

What is Cyanotype? Cyanotype printing is a process that involves developing prints by exposing chemically-coated paper and materials to sunlight. This technique, one of the most accessible alternative photographic processes, was historically used by architects and engineers to create blueprints of their notes and drawings. By composing artwork with photo negatives and other materials such as dried flowers and leaves on chemically-coated paper, exposing the prints to sunlight, and then washing and drying them, participants can express themselves in shades of blue.

Workshop Process: Experience the fun and creativity of analog cyanotype printmaking
Step 1: Create your bookmarks and expose them to sunlight for approximately 10-12 minutes
Step 2: Wash the print
Step 3: Dry the print
Step 4: Your Cyanotype print is ready!

Timeframe and Duration:
Date: 29th June 2024
Morning session with kids (2 hours)
Afternoon session with adults (2 hours)
