Having six female poets from India and Europe for session moderated by Dr. Katharina Görgen, Director of Goethe-Institut, Chennai navigating the intersections of feminist ideologies and poetic expression.
The panelists include Christiane Rechenmacher from Germany, whose work captures the complexities of feminist thought in Europe; Meena Kandasamy from Chennai, a celebrated poet and activist known for her bold and unflinching voice; Mehak Goyal from Pune, whose poems reflect the intersection of identity and resistance; Negha Shahin, a trans poet from Chennai whose works are deeply rooted in contemporary societal themes; Rike Scheffler from Germany, a poet whose experimental approach bridges poetry and performance; and SriLatha K, a Chennai-based poet whose work resonates with local and global feminist narratives.
This session will delve into the role of poetry as a vehicle for challenging gender norms and fostering cultural dialogue to discuss a profound insight into the transformative power of poetry in feminist discourse. By connecting voices from different cultural and linguistic contexts, the panel will illuminate shared struggles, unique perspectives, and the collective aspirations that unite poets and their audiences.
