Knochen und Namen (Bones and Names)
Dir.: Fabian Stumm, 109 min. , 2023

The upcoming escalation of their relationship struggle is already clearly perceptible, even if one accuses the other of being emotionally cold. But the initial dispute between Boris and Jonathan is only a script rehearsal for the relationship film in which the actor Boris is currently participating; and yet it is an anticipation of what is about to come.

Boris and writer Jonathan have been a couple for a long time, they have settled in, but also steadily drifted apart; Most of the time, the two simply work side by side. Jonathan is researching for his new novel, which is supposed to be about decline and death. To do this, he interviews people who are familiar with it, who have suffered heavy losses or who are professionally involved in it as morticians.

Boris, on the other hand, growingly enjoys the film role of a man who takes away a married woman's husband - an autobiographically depicted story by director Jeanne. Play and life jeopardize to merge. There are no dramatic scenes that take place between the two men. It is precisely by this that a reflection on relationships, which is as clever as it is entertaining, evolves - banal and excessive at the same time.
