Ever heard a violinist in an auto rikshaw? Seen vertiginous walking feet or strange people with cameras on their forehead in a socio-economically disparate Chennai neighbourhood?
Pause/Play is a series of artistic interactions, site-specific installations and performances - music, dance, theatre, film - in a playful, yet thought-provoking structure, all responding to the idea of interruption, breaking or bursting in the middle of a flow in the routine running of the Goethe-Institut as an institution.
The interruptions are as much for the staff, students, clients and visitors of the Goethe-Institut as for the public in general. They reflect and comment upon the life that exists in and around the institute.
Basement 21 is a collective of contemporary practitioners committed to enabling and strengthening the growth of Contemporary arts’ practice. It is a platform that investigates contemporary thought and action by focusing not just on the artistic ‘product’ but the artistic process and surrounding discourse.
