First celebrated in 2001, the European Day of Languages (EDL) aims to celebrate Europe's rich linguistic and cultural diversity. The day not only promotes and reinforces the plurilingual skills and intercultural understanding existing in the continent but is also an opportunity to acknowledge all of Europe's languages, including those that are less widely spoken and those that have migrated with their populations.

To commemorate the European Day of Languages on 26 September 2022, British Council along with Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and Alliance Française du Bengale cordially invite you to an evening of literature. The programme will include reading of excerpts from iconic pieces of literary works in English, German and French and the translated works in Indian languages.

‘European Day of Languages’ is organised and presented by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) – Kolkata Cluster.

The evening is open to all but you are requested to confirm your presence (RSVP) at 9830837667 through SMS or a WhatsApp message.
