The Edcuational Services for Teaching German of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai supports a large network of schools and institutions in Maharashtra and Gujarat who teach German as a foreign language by providing materials, training teachers, conducting workshops, etc.

This year too we will be offering two parallel training seminars in the summer vacations to our teachers – one two-week seminar in an A1 class with adult learners and two two-week seminars in A1 class with young learners from schools. Depending on the target groups of the teachers, they will be offered a place in the course best suited for them. They can sit in the class, observe the teacher, reflect upon the observed lesson and learn new teaching techniques. The teachers will also experience several ways of working with texts, songs, videos, vocabulary and grammar, and also see how one can train the four skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking in class. Apart from this they will also get an opportunity to teach the class in teams of two and get feedback from experts.

Both programmes consist of 30 teaching hours of 45 minutes each and can be visited by beginners as well as teachers with experience.

Since January 2015 four suitcases full of various books and materials for German class along with the poster-exhibition ‘German Cities and Landscapes’ are on a tour in Maharashtra and Gujrat.

The suitcase consists of several materials – course books, workbooks, DVDs, CDs, games, teaching aids, exam preparatory material and rapid readers. The teacher can use these materials in class as well as lend them to the students. The main aim of this suitcase library is to develop the students’ interest for German and make learning more fun!

The exhibition consists of 15 large posters depicting beautiful photos from Germany. These photos and informative texts give us an insight into the country and its people, even though we live thousands of kilometers away. They, in fact, make us want to learn the language even more and get to know the country better.

The Suitcase and the Poster-Exhibition tour together and they can be borrowed by schools for a period of one or two months. Book now!

The Goethe-Institut calendar for 2017 by the Educational Services Department deals with the topic ‘People in Germany’ and presents several aspects of life in Germany. Attractive pictures on the front pages and informative texts on the backside make this calendar the perfect authentic material to be used in German class. The topics of this calendar are especially of interest to young German language learners between 15 and 25 years of age. There is a wide range of materials available for teachers.

Pictures, texts from the calendar and teaching material can be found here.

The calendar can be borrowed by teachers from our Educational Services Office (Nariman Point) anytime.

Are you often confronted by questions from your students like ‘Mam, why should I opt for German?‘ Or do you find it difficult to convince your students or their parents of the importance of learning a foreign language? No worries! We can offer you a solution.

We can come to your school and conduct an info-session on learning German for your students / their parents. Following points are covered in the presentation:

a. Reasons to learn German
b. Information on our language courses, international examinations and library services of Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan
c. Germany as an upcoming study destination

In addition to these we also conduct a small teaser class which enables the students to see how easy learning German can be.

We offer these sessions on a regular basis throughout the year. If you would like to have it in your school/college, please feel free to write to us.
