In conjunction with our exhibition of prints Social Criticism and War | Otto Dix, CONA कोना is organising two full-day printmaking workshops with artist and printmaker Indrajit Prasad. The workshop will be held in two parts - theory and practical, with a break for lunch.

* Basic process: Stamping process, finding texture, doting, lining
* Intaglio process: Intaglio includes a series of printmaking techniques in which the image is incised into a surface and the incised line or sunken area holds the ink. The workshop will delve into two such processes: Etching and Aquatint. The aim of this is
(i) Understanding lines through etching and there transformation onto paper through intaglio process.
(ii) Understanding of the purpose of printmaking tools, methods and materials of various types of intaglio print making technique etc. |
Etching - a printmaking technique used extensively by Otto Dix in the ongoing show, is an intaglio process used in cases of through which the design is drawn with a sharp tool. The technique was invented in Germany in the late 1400s.
Aquatint - an intaglio process used to create tonal effects rather than lines. The technique was developed in France in the 1760s, and became popular in Britain in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. It is often used in combination with other intaglio techniques.

CONA Foundation initiated in 2012 by Shreyas Karle and Hemali Bhuta has been actively engaged into multidisciplinary pedagogical structures through the classroom program and has created a print studio for academical and analogue print practices.
