A two day programme

One of the foremost directors in Hindi Cinema, Bimal Roy was known especially for his sensitive storytelling, and brilliant camera work. His films dealt with social and humanist concerns. The two day programme will consist of screenings and panel discussions. The following films will be screened:

Through a series of interviews with Bimal Roy’s colleagues, family members and fellow film personalities, Joy Roy provides an understanding and a renewed appreciation of Bimal Roy’s work to today’s audiences.

In the hope of earning enough money to pay off his debts and save his land, a poor farmer becomes a rickshaw puller in the Calcutta and faces many difficulties.
