Gram Art Project is connected with Paradsinga, an average Indian village. In the last few years, Paradsinga, like many other villages, has seen its share of development; from the sanctioning of a Special Economic Zone to an irrigation project. These developments are a cause for celebration, and Gram Art Project invited people for an evening of performances, artworks and dinner on Friday, 11 October 2019, 19:00 onwards, at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi.
Gram Art Project is a group of farmers, artists, women, makers…people with different ideas and identities. But the idea and identity that connects them and makes them a collective, is that they all live, are concerned about and work in and around a village. This village is Paradsinga, situated in Sausar Tehsil of Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Gram Art Project is a collective space where they can express their concerns as part of an average Indian village in forms and media which are socially and ecologically non-exploitative.
Agrarian crisis is not just a rural challenge, but an issue for urban consumers as well. This project intends to increase the occupancy of core agricultural issues in the sphere of public debate by using media which are part of Gram Art’s farming resources and have developed out of its processes. To this end, these issues were exyplored over an evening in Delhi with food and drink from the farms together with music, performances and an exhibition on agrarian issues all drawn from the Gram Art Project using resources grown on the Paradsinga farms.
