@ Pune International Film Festival 2020
The Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) is one of the most popular and renowned film forums in Pune. It represents film production in the Marathi language (in contrast to Bollywood film production, where it is only produced in Hindi), but at the same time makes a wide range of international films available to Pune cinema fans.
Although the interest in international films in India has increased significantly in recent years, contemporary international or German films still have difficulties in being presented via the normal distribution systems in Indian cinemas. Film festivals are still one of the few ways to reach a wider audience with German film productions.
With this goal in mind, the Goethe-Institut Pune is presenting a balanced film package consisting of the latest German feature films. The following German films will be presented at PIFF 2020 this year:
System Crasher

And she is certainly not looking to change her ways. Because Benni has one single goal: to be back at home with her mommy. But Bianca is scared of her own daughter. Mrs Bafané from child protection services is trying her best to find a permanent placement for Benni. She hires the anger management trainer Micha as Benni's school escort and suddenly there is a seed of hope. Will Micha be able to succeed where all others despaired?
A Regular Woman
Dir.: Sherry Hormann, 96 Min., 2019

Her brothers refuse to accept her lifestyle; insults and threats continue to escalate. Finally, the young woman reports her oldest brother to the police. She no longer feels safe at home, so she takes her child and moves in with a female friend. At the same time, the family is trying to find a wife for her brother, her future killer. They manage to discipline the young Turkish woman Melek, played by Evin, into becoming a strict, devout Muslim in the space of a few weeks. She is part of their plan, intended to take in and care for the little boy after Hatun is dead. And then the murder is committed.
The Golden Glove
Dir.: Fatih Akin, 115 Min., 2019

Based on the novel of the same name, THE GOLDEN GLOVE follows Honka as he frequents his favorite bar, the "Golden Glove," where schmaltzy German songs move the boozy bar hounds to tears and drinking is a reflex against pain and longing. There, Honka, a pitiful loser chasing after lonely women, keeps more than just secrets in the attic.

In Morocco, he teams up with a sharp-witted British runaway who pinched his stepfather's recreational vehicle in order to escape from a family holiday.
