Honig im Kopf

„How does it feel to forget everything?“

“Honig im Kopf” tells an extraordinary story: Tilda’s grandfather Amandus gets more and more odd and curious, his doctor names it dementia. After his wife’s death, Amandus relocates to Tilda’s and her parent’s home. Soon it gets obvious, the old man does not fit into the smoothly planned and full daily routine of the family. They want him to move into a retirement home. Neither Amandus nor Tilda want to accept this decision done by the “grown-ups” and get started on their own account.

They aim for Venice, the city, where Amandus and his wife spent their honeymoon back then. Certainly, an eleven-year old girl and her grandfather do not form the ideal tour group, so the trip becomes a special adventure. Despite Amandus gets lost to his illness more and more, finally he welds the family together and strengthens them again.

“Honig im Kopf” manages to show the serious and tragic topic dementia in a humorous but nevertheless dignified way. Tilda’s childish appreciation opens a new perspective to the audience. The pictures touch relentlessly direct and show the many faces of dementia. Bright moments in which Amandus tries to fool his doctor as well as his complete helplessness of the old man, becoming more and more child again.
Especially Dieter Hallervorden as Amandus and Emma Schweiger as Tilda act outstandig in „Honig im Kopf“.
