Karl Marx and his writings arrived in India in various stages and subsequently some of these have been translated and written about in many languages of the sub-continent. On the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of Karl Marx, the Chennai based publishing house, New Century Book House (NCBH) will be launching மார்க்ஸ் எங்கெல்ஸ் தேர்வு நூல்கள் a set of 20 volumes of Tamil translations of the
Marx & Engels –
Selected Works
Marx & Engels – Selected Works spans the diversity of their contributions to philosophy, political economy and critical theory; making this not only one of the most significant historical documents of the nineteenth century but also a testimony to an intellectual friendship of rare intensity.
Incidentally, NCBH has also earlier published the Tamil translation of Karl Marx's monumental work ‘Das Kapital’.The five-part, three-volume work-running to 3,200 pages was released in Chennai on 5 May 1999 on the occasion of the 181st birth anniversary of Karl Marx .
The NCBH management team and invited dignitaries will share their views and also discuss the actual process of translation itself.
