Film Screening Crossing The Bridge by Fatih Akin at Indian Music Experience

We kick off - appropriately - with the award-winning Crossing The Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul by Fatih Akin. Akin has won numerous awards for his films, including the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film in 2017. You do not want to miss this!

A documentary about the musical world of Istanbul. Alexander Hacke, bassist of the famous German music group "Einstürzende Neubauten", along with director Fatih Akin, takes to the streets of Istanbul with his camera and microphone. They will try to catch city music.
 
Their journey begins at the famous Bosphorus Bridge, Bogazici Körprüsü, followed by rapper Cez, Turkish lute virtuoso Orhan Gencebay, and then famous singer Sezen Aksu. The filmmakers stop by the street musicians and listen to the songs of the Kurdish singer Aynur. A fascinating musical film tour of the city is created, bringing together Eastern and Western cultures.
