Chhaap Tilak Sab Chheeni

The project Chhaap Tilak Sab Chheeni is an exploration of ideas and materials around touch, biometrics, datafication and the body that meanders through Amir Khusro, fingerprint matching algorithms, forensics, butoh and corporate control. 

Kaushal Sapre and Mohit Shelare are interested in the fault lines within the contemporary biometric surveillance apparatuses that function to digitize and decontextualise relationships between bodies while at the same time imposing an invisible regime characterised by varying degrees of control. In this situation, they imagine that new forms of intimacy must be invented that leverage the moments of glitch, stutter and jitter of these apparatuses to short circuit hegemonic discourse networks.

Through the project, Kaushal and Mohit have done sustained performative interventions within the premises of Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi, developing a computer game with fingerprint sensors and improvising a performance with sound, live coding and movement, among other things.
 
Over the course of two events, they will open out their process (the experiments, interventions and conversations between themselves, their friends and collaborators) to the wider public.
