Event: Photography Contest for School Students & Students of Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata
Title: Mein deutsches Lieblingswort | My favourite German word
Dates: Competition opens on 25.03.2020 at 00.00 hrs (IST) and closes on 05.04.2020 at 23.59 hrs (IST)
Venue: Contestants are to prepare their entries from inside their homes and stepping out is strictly not recommended.
Description: Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata has organised a photography contest for all those German language students who are currently pursuing their studies, interests or work from the confines of their homes. Whether you are someone who is learning German as part of your school curriculum or an adult who is currently learning the language at Goethe-Institut – this is a great opportunity to let loose your creativity.
The guidelines of the contest have been adapted in such a manner that you can click a picture, write a short text and send in the entries to us - all without stepping out of your homes. All you have to do is draw or click a picture of something that best describes or represents your favourite word in German.
Additionally, you should also write a short text in German, with maximum 50 words, explaining how that picture is related to your favourite German word and why that particular word is your favourite. How you use your creativity from within the limited surroundings of your home plays an important role for selection.
The picture and text below is a one of the examples of what one is expected to prepare:

Description:
Ich finde mein Schlafzimmer sehr gemütlich. Da finde ich Ruhe. Der Stress baut sich allmählich ab. Da kann ich stundenlang sitzen und mich ausruhen.

Eligibility criteria:
- In order to participate the contestant should be someone who is currently learning German as part of his / her school curriculum. He / she should also be from a school which is an educational cooperation partner institute of Goethe-Institut
- Adult learners, who are currently learning German at one of the language courses being offered at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata, are also eligible to participate.
Procedure for school students:
- Click a picture and save it on your Laptop / PC. Rename the picture as in the format below
For example: Priya_Kumari_KV Borjhar_Guwahati.jpg
(That is if your name is Priya Kumari and you are studying in KV Borjhar in Guwahati)
- Open the registration cum declaration form on your PC/Laptop, take a print out of it and get it signed by your parent/ guardian. Scan it and save it in the same format as:

- Send the clicked photo and the registration cum declaration form to bkd.mmbkolkata@gmail.com Before sending the mail, ensure that your mail has the 2 attachments, that is:

Procedure for adult learners from Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata:
Click a picture and save it on your Laptop / PC. Rename the picture as in the format below

(That is if your name is Ashish Kumar and you are currently pursuing the B2.1 course from Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata).
- Open the registration form on your PC/Laptop, take a print out of it and fill up the relevant details. Scan it and save it in the same format as:

Send the clicked photo and the registration form to bkd.mmbkolkata@gmail.com
Note: We do realise that due to the current situation not everyone will have access to a printer / scanner in their homes. In case you do not have access to a printer and scanner, then please fill up the registration form online by clicking on the particular link that applies to you:

As for the declaration form, please write the exact text in BLOCK LETTERS by hand on a A4 size white paper, put in the necessary details and signatures, then click a photo of this page and E-Mail it to us at bkd.mmbkolkata@gmail.com along with the photograph. Needless to say, the details entered in the online registration form must match those in the handwritten declaration form, so as to enable us to tally them. Registrations done via E-Mail as well as online will be considered equally.
Before you begin, make sure you have followed the below guidelines:
- The competition will open on 25.03.2020. 00:00 hrs and closes on 05.04.2020 23:59 hrs local Indian time (IST). Entries submitted after this date won't be considered.
- The photo must be submitted in JPEG/GIF format and should not exceed 2 MB.
- Photo must be submitted along with the duly filled registration form (favorite word and description in German to be mentioned in the form). Incomplete entries will not be considered
- Only one entry per individual is permitted.
- The photo must be an original creation. It should be clicked by the student himself/herself and not by a professional photographer.
- Internet downloaded pictures and pictures with copyright issues will be immediately disqualified.
- Photos will be judged on the basis of creativity and aptness of the description.
- By submitting your photos, you agree to grant us the rights to publish them on social media.
- There will be first, second and third prize.
- Winning photos will be published on Goethe social media channels with permission.
- There are also more than 20 consolation Prizes.
- Participation certificates will be given to all the participants.
Important notice: In case of school students, the respective winners and their schools will be informed by e-mail by 30.04.2020. The prizes will be handed over to the school authorities.
The winners, who are students from Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata will be notified by mail by the language department.
