For over a hundred days, interdisciplinary artist
Amitesh Grover's verbal compositions shone down from a billboard at the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in central New Delhi, offering poetry to passers-by and encouraging them to follow the board's various lyrical instructions. But cast against the backdrop of weeks of unrest and protest, Grover's billboard became a site of political incantation, responding to the turbulence of the moment with tenderness and urgency. Grover's board-poems, produced from 2019 - 2021, are a call to reflect upon the conditions of contemporary life, both in the publicness of our gatherings, and in the solitude of one’s private sphere.
