Transmissions is an audio video installation exploring the sonic and visual landscape of life in the cyber cities.
The show is a physical extension of a virtual intercity collaboration between Ria Rajan (Pune) & David De Menezes (Mumbai), that comes out of Smarter Digital Realities an online residency program with artists reflecting upon how cities have grown to be mediated by the digital.
The show has been supported by TIFA Working Studios and Goethe Institute Pune.
About the artist:
Ria Rajan is a visual artist and designer, currently living and working in Pune.
Born in India, in 1985, she graduated from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, where she specialised in Textile Design (2004-2008). Light and colour are the primary subjects of enquiry and experimentation. Her ideas take form through various materials and develop in response to her physical surroundings. She is interested in the intangible, ephemeral and transient experiences of spaces and objects, both natural and constructed.
Ria's work spans across mediums both analog and digital, including drawing, painting, image making, sculptural explorations and interventions in spaces. She has been invited to participate in multiple public art projects such as Urban Avant Garde (Bangalore), Investment Zone (Bangalore), Figment (NY) and is one half of Spectra. Along with these, her collaborative works have been included in festivals and developed through residencies, both locally and internationally.
In 2018, she was part of the Contexting Punemicro-residency at TIFA and was part of the Prakalp Pune exhibition late last year.
