JISR // Brücke: From the Isar to the Cauvery
The multi-city South Asia tour of the Munich ensemble,
JISR ends in Bangalore. In many ways an exchange of musical cultures
JISR جسر is led by the charismatic linguist, singer, percussionist and Gembri player
Dr. Mohcine Ramdan.

In Bangalore,
JISR will collaborate on stage with the
Ramamani Project, featuring Bangalore's very own virtuosos
R.A.Ramamani, Karthik Mani and
Dattatreya Desai.
The live performance by
JISR is a melting pot of diverse musical styles and traditions. The repertoire and musical influences are from Arabic classical music and poetry, African Gnawa grooves to German Krautrock, Balkan, Jazz, Tango and Andalusian Flamenco.
JISR’s music is an ethnographic snapshot of a polycultural music that breaks the boundaries between different musical genres, making a space for musical imaginations. The music is unconventionally instrumented, exploring and integrating sounds from around the world.

JISR // BRÜCKE presents music like a caravan, moving in the moonlight, passing through the musical cultures of the South Asian continent. Allowing the audience to embark on a multi-faceted sound journey through Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India.

Birdsong
Down the ages, birds have enthralled us with their ability to take to the skies, inspiring our cultural wealth – through music, poetry, art and more. These sentinel species are crucial to our ecosystems and the sustenance of our natural habitats.
Birdsong spotlights the contribution of birds to our ecological and cultural wealth. The exhibition features stunning photographs and illustrations, a display of musical instruments inspired by birds, audio-visual kiosks showcasing bird calls, computer interactives, and graphic panels that highlight the connections between birds and humans, and the significance of coexistence.

Inspired by a Garcia Marquez short story,
Bird is a series of solo movement propositions where we see the quirky bridging of two anatomies – that of human rootedness and of avian flight. Performed by four male soloists, the work seeks to question our very conception of the human form and proposes a reorganising of how we may understand our bodily selves.

For 50 years, music collective
Embryo has been building bridges between jazz and Indian, African and Arabic sonic worlds, as pioneers of 'World Music'. On their travels from Europe to Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, Egypt and Morocco, Embryo played with local musicians, – including jazz greats Mal Waldron and Charlie Mariano and Fela Kuti.
Embryo keyboarder and director Michael Wehmeyer opens a treasure chest of previously unreleased film footage and photos to convey five decades of a new way of making music, independent of existing social and cultural norms. Embryo has a way of making the world small and the music big. The film is truly a cinematic jam session across the globe.
